American film and television producer Jason Blum has remained one of the most controversial figures in the industry since founding Blumhouse Productions, which has produced some of the most popular horror franchises in the last decade including Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, and Happy Death Day.
The film producer certainly has a winning strategy for building out horror franchises given the box office reception of Blumhouse Productions’ output. Blum told the Los Angeles Times that “I found that a lot of people ridiculed contemporary art. I decided I wanted to be involved in art everybody could understand.”
